Understanding the Domain Transfer Process
We know that it can be a challenging task to move your domains from one registrar to another. TransferXpress eliminates the confusion in the transfer process. Your most critical job is to reply promptly to confirmation emails (or ask the Admin Contact to do so). We'll do the rest!
The Process
For Successful Transfer
1. Submit domain for transfer
Make certain that the current admin contact email address is valid and working. Make sure the domain is not locked at the current register (registrar-lock) or that a transfer-guard is turned on.
2. WhoIs data is collected from losing registrar
Obtain authorization code (auth code) from current registrar for .org, .biz, .us, .info domains before requesting a transfer. Contact the current registrar to obtain this. It looks something like this: Q4MWKnqD
Without this Authorization code the trans is not possible. Not needed for .com and .net
3. Email sent to Admin Contact
If you are processing the transfer on behalf of your customers, be sure to alert the administrative contacts of pending verification emails. These emails must be approved in a timely manner for the transfer to go through.
4. Approved Transfer request is sent to registry/losing registrar
The transfer request is sent to registry/losing registrar.
5. Losing Registrar sends verification request to admin contact
Be sure to alert the administrative contact that they may receive a second verification request from the losing registrar that must be completed with in 48 hours.
Many registrars require a secondary verification from the admin contact that must be completed within 48-72 hours.
6. Losing registrar releases domain to gaining registrar
If your transfer request failed, the reason will be noted on that email.
7. Email sent to member to provide final transfer status.
Email sent to member to provide final transfer status. If transfer was successful $15.00 will be charged to your account.
